Greetings to you all
ON THE NATIONAL FRONT: National Manufactured Home Owners Association
Day of Action – This is really becoming a “Month of Action” as home owners across the country plan and execute
events related to highlighting the issues faced by people who live in manufactured housing communities, in
particular ever-increasing rents, lack of on-going maintenance and loss of amenities at the same time as their
economic security (Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid) is being threatened. NMHOA is working with the
Center for Community Change to provide resources, press packets, and other support for any home owners who
are interested in putting on a “day of action” where they live. Please contact NMHOA Executive Director, Ishbel
Dickens at: ishbel@mhoaa.us or by telephone at: 206.851.6385 to find out more about how you and your HOA
could be part of this exciting Month of Action.. Also, please see attached “Invitation” for some ideas of what you
and your neighbors/members might want to adopt for your unique event.
Last words for March – Huge congratulations to the manufactured home owners at Wheel Estates in MA who are
moving forward with the purchase of their community as a resident-owned cooperative. They have been working
with staff at ROC USA and the Cooperative Development Institute to ensure they have the financing in place to
close on this purchase in mid-April.
Congratulations also to our members at the Greenbriar Manufactured Housing Community in PA who have a been
able to garner significant media coverage as they work to educate elected officials and the general public about
the need to keep rents in manufactured housing communities within reasonable limits – economic eviction
benefits no-one.
Finally, congratulations to the City Council of Fort Collins, CO who recently adopted a Manufactured Housing
Mitigation Plan to address the long-term preservation of manufactured housing communities and the relocation
needs of home owners who are displaced if their community is unable to be preserved.
You can read more about all of these success stories at the NMHOA webpage: www.mhoaa.us
